On a regular working day, Rhein-Neckar-Verkehr GmbH (rnv) transports an average of around 500,000 people in the cities of Mannheim, Heidelberg and Ludwigshafen and the neighbouring areas. Our service area extends from Bad Dürkheim to Neckargemünd, from Frankenthal to Leimen, from Viernheim to Maudach. We occupy a special position among the local transport companies in Germany: rnv is the municipal transport company that was jointly founded by the three cities of Heidelberg, Ludwigshafen and Mannheim and operates simultaneously in the three federal states of Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate and Hesse.
rnv was created through the merger of five municipal transport companies and therefore has a special organisational structure: it is a subsidiary of the various municipal companies HSB, VBL, RHB and MKB. Founded in March 2005, rnv has been an independent transport company since 2009 after, among other things, the route licences of the old companies were transferred to rnv. Accordingly, representatives of the three cities sit on the Supervisory Board.

Management
rnv takes responsibility
In the spirit of sustainable mobility to protect the climate and the environment, rnv is working on the implementation of innovative concepts and alternative drives such as fuel cell technology and the development of the associated infrastructure. rnv also assumes responsibility within the framework of the Supply Chain Duty of Care Act. You can find out more about this in our policy statement.
The signs are pointing to expansion
In order to meet the growing demand for local public transport, rnv is focusing on the acquisition of customer-friendly and high-capacity trains: the new Rhine-Neckar Tram 2020. rnv is also already implementing, planning or reviewing a comprehensive and sustainable expansion of its route network.
Improvement through digitalisation
In order to open up new forms of public transport, increase efficiency and reduce costs, rnv is focusing on digitalisation for every aspect of transport operations. It is part of the corporate strategy to optimise work processes, whether within the company or in contact with passengers. Apps for timetable information, customer information and ticket management ensure networking with customers.
