Track renewal Mannheim Friedrichsring-Kaiserring
The tram tracks on Kaserring and Friedrichsring in Mannheim are getting on in years. In order to continue to guarantee efficient and reliable public transport in Mannheim, we are renewing the tracks between the Nationaltheater and Tattersall stops from 19 February 2026. On this page you will find all information about the construction process and the diversions during the construction phases.
Mannheim city centre always accessible
During the track work along the Friedrichsring and Kaiserring route, Mannheim city centre will remain easily accessible by tram and private transport. The diversions are included in the electronic connection information.

What is being done?
- Track renewal between the Nationaltheater and Tattersall stops
- 700 metres of light rail track
- 3000 metres of track (double and triple track)
- 8 points
- 4 crossings
- Mainly grass track
- 5 construction phases with different diversion phases
